Royal Technologies, one of the country’s top businesses in advanced security and fire solutions

“Firm secures reputation with award for safeguarding businesses, homes” (Small Business Commerce Association).

Royal Technologies has recently been named one the country’s top businesses in advanced security and fire solutions by the Small Business Commerce Association (SBCA).This years awards were based on five million nominations from 2,500 cities in all 50 states in the U.S., according to the SBCA.

Lee Accavallo, President of The Royal Group family of service companies, said the award – which recognizes the company as among the TOP FIVE PERCENT of firms in the U.S. that handles security and fire protection – came about in the same way as its expansion since 1935 into a tri-state operation.

As illustrated by Ed Barna of The Rutland Business Journal, “Royal Technologies provides security and fire protection to larger commercial and industrial clients. That includes card access systems and emergency evacuation systems as well as those that monitor conditions and connect wit business owners and emergency services, he said.

Its a high tech business, Accavallo said. Intrusion protection, for instance, can involve cameras that spot and track someone who has illegally entered a building; the cameras can be monitored over the internet from anywhere in the world, he said.

In some cases, even more is at stake than business assets. Accavallo said one of the company’s clients is the Vermont Electric Company, whose seemingly remote substations are guarded by more than chain link fences.

Small business and home systems are a second tier of the business – in scale, but not in importance, Accavallo said.

Another good example of home monitoring is low-temperature monitoring, Accavallo said. For instance, he said, pipes can burst in extreme weather – which creates even more of a problem when the owners are away. “If that happens, you’ll wish your house burned down,” he said.

Royals Attention to detail and commitment to quality has kept the business expanding since it took hold in Rutland in the middle of the Depression, Accavallo said. Today, 79 years later, its crews work in western New Hampshire, Eastern New York, and all of Vermont, he said. The award, said Accavallo, was earned following a thorough inspection of the company’s work. “We’re proud of that,” he said.”
